Now, the downtown Central Library, which first opened to the public in 1912, is undergoing an extensive, $70 million renewal project. The complete restoration and modernization of this architectural masterpiece will allow it to continue as the system hub and the premiere public research library for the St. Louis region.

St. Louis Public Library Ranked No. 2
The current rankings for America’s Most Literate City were released today by Central Connecticut State University. The University looks at several key components including library services to determine which of the 75 largest cities is most literate.
