YL host Colson Whitehead at Central

We’re inviting all of our FRIENDS to a membership reception with award-winning author Colson Whitehead at Central Library on Thursday, May 14.  Please join us for an hour prior to Mr. Whitehead’s remarks to enjoy light refreshments and chat with the author and other FRIENDS of the St. Louis Public Library.

Colson Whitehead has produced four widely-acclaimed, book-length works: The Intuitionist, John Henry Days, The Colossus of New York and Apex Hides the HurtJohn Updike called him "ambitious," "scintillating," and "strikingly original," saying, "The young African-American writer to watch may well be a thirty-one-year-old Harvard graduate with the vivid name of Colson Whitehead."

Mr. Whitehead will be signing and discussing his newest work of fiction, Sag Harbor.
